Ways to Give
Join one of the Fishermen’s Alliance Giving Societies
Our giving societies recognize our donors who make long-term commitments to support the charitable mission of the Fishermen’s Alliance.The Fishermen’s Alliance gratefully acknowledges those whose gifts help to uphold the rich heritage of commercial fishing and its significant impact on the working life of our neighbors and cultural fabric of Cape Cod.
Donors also enjoy special benefits, including but not limited to:
- Special invitations to exclusive events, outings and meetings;
- Quarterly donor newsletters;
- Recognition in our annual report and other distribution materials.
The Highliner Society - Lifetime Giving Society
We rely on long-term support from individual donors to ensure our programs continue to impact the 400+ small-scale fishing businesses on Cape Cod. The Highliner Society celebrates the spirit of philanthropy exemplified by our most generous and loyal donors who have a lifetime cumulative giving history of $100,000 or more. Named in recognition of fishermen using the term “highliner” as a means of respect and recognition for fellow members of their fraternity of the sea, these giving members are recognized annually and receive lifetime name recognition at the Captain Nathan Harding House.
The Salty Dog Society - Lifetime Giving Society
The Salty Dog Society named in recognition of experienced sailors who spent much of their life aboard a ship at sea, also celebrates the spirit of philanthropy exemplified by our most generous and loyal donors who have a lifetime cumulative giving history of $25,000 or more. Salty Dog Society giving members are recognized annually and receive lifetime name recognition at the Captain Nathan Harding House.
The Captain Harding Society - Annual Giving Society
The Captain Harding Society recognizes donors who make annual contributions of $1,000 or higher to the Fishermen’s Alliance. Named in recognition of the Captain Nathan Harding House, which provides a strong foundation and place for us to pursue innovative policy initiatives, strengthen environmental programs and maintain our nationally-recognized presence in fisheries management, this society brings together individuals who are committed to our work and who understand the importance of planning and financial stability to the success of this aim. These giving members are recognized annually, including name recognition at the Captain Nathan Harding House.

Types of Gifts
Employer Matching Gifts
Corporate matching gifts are the best way to double (or maybe triple!) the impact of your donations. Take advantage of your company’s matching gift program by talking with a representative from the Human Resource Department to find out about the employer’s guidelines for matching gifts. Many companies will provide paperwork that needs to be acknowledged by the Fishermen’s Alliance in order to receive the matching gift. Please send that paperwork in with your donation and we will submit it back to the employer. You will be notified when the matching gift is received.
Gifts in Honor
Thoughtful, and priceless, gifts can be made in honor of someone special in your life. Birthdays, anniversaries or holidays provide an opportunity to make a generous contribution for someone who has an interest in the fishing heritage of Cape Cod. If you wish for special materials to be sent to the honoree, please contact us at 508-945-2432.
Gifts in Memory
Commemorative gifts can be made to celebrate the life of a loved one who has passed away. Whether a fisherman, or friend, these gifts are welcomed. The family of the loved one will receive a card notifying them that you have made a gift in memory of their loved one (we do not disclose the amount of the gift). If you wish for materials to be sent to the family of a loved one, please contact us at 508-945-2432.
Gifts of Stock
Gifts of stock or securities will be accepted by the Fishermen’s Alliance via wire transfer. Traded stock that has increased in value may provide a greater tax benefit to you than giving cash. Your charitable deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock. To set up a gift of stock to the Fishermen’s Alliance, please contact Holly Buddensee at 508-945-2432 ext. 106 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
