Haddock Special Access Program (SAP)

The Closed Area 1 Hook and line Haddock SAP opens on October 1, 2005 and closes December31, 2005.

2.2 million pounds of haddock can be landed. When the quota is landed, the SAP closes.

The Sector and non-sector vessesl have created temporal divisions in the SAP. Sector vessels can land up to half the quota during the first six weeks of the SAP. Non-sector vessels can land half the quota (and anything rolled over from the first six weeks) during the last six weeks. If the Sector vessels catch all of their fish early, the non-sector vesssels can begin fishing early.

Participating vessels are required to call in 72 hours in advance of every sailing to notify the observer program. The captain will then either receive an observer waiver via e-mail or a call from an observer to arrange sailing time. Number: (508) 990-9057

Participating vessels must carry a functioning VMS unit and be declared into the SAP.

Participating vessels must have confirmed their intent to participate in the SAP by calling (508) 990-9057 by Septemeber 30, 2005 and receiving a confirmation code.
