Study Fleet Pilot Project

This exciting project teams local owner-operators with NOAA Fisheries personnel to develop Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) that will work on board the small, open wheelhouse boats characteristic of the Cape Cod fleet. A VMS will gather and transmit accurate and timely catch data to government scientists and managers, and can also ease burdensome reporting requirements placed on fishermen. The CCCHFA has coordinated the participation of 10 local boats in device installation and troubleshooting.
