Herring Fishery Management Plan

In November 2006, the New England Fishery Management Council met in Hyannis, Massachusetts to discuss amendments to the herring fishery management plan. The lack of Atlantic herring in the inshore areas of New England is causing problems for local fishermen as well as industries that rely on herring as a forage species.

CCCHFA has a vested interest in restoring the inshore stocks of herring and has joined with a number of industrial and recreational fishing groups to form the CHOIR coalition- the Coalition for the Atlantic Herring Fishery’s Orderly, Informed and Responsible long-term development.
