HEATHER ROCKWELL

Program Director, Nantucket Soundkeeper

"The multiple challenges facing Nantucket Sound should be addressed with the ecosystem as a whole in mind

in order to ensure proper preservation and conservation of the Sound's resources."

A native Cape Codder, Heather received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Oceanography from Florida Institute of Technology and has pursued a career in marine science education, advocacy and conservation through her work at the New Jersey Academy of Aquatic Sciences in Camden, NJ and at the International Wildlife Coalition in Falmouth, MA. For the past three years, she worked for the Nantucket Soundkeeper
program at the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound before moving to the Hook Association in June 2009. When not out on the water or advocating for the global protection of whales, Heather can be found in Marstons Mills with her husband Michael, two sons Colin and Derek, and her German Shepherd Sasha.
